This national nonprofit  organizes and develops organic gardens in urban areas in the hopes of eradicating hunger. These efforts provide nutritious organic food which is fresh  to thousands of city resident

Timely electronic updates provide editorial as well as scientific studies which thoroughly explore the current food industry and the need for thorough analysis of its contribution to illness. The benefits of organic production methods are reiterated as well.

Small loans  made by individuals worldwide provide direct monetary assistance to  individuals or groups of your choice. This nonprofit allows you to empower someone and hopefully lift themselves out of poverty.





8.Nothing But Nets

This organization along with partners such as  Sports Illustrated and Time Inc. provides insecticide impregnated nets to families in Malaria endemic areas. The goal- the prevention of Malaria. This disease affects over 500 million individuals per year and kills over 1 million  . A simple contribution of $10  purchases a net which deters the mosquitoes which carry the Plasmodium parasite responsible for Malaria. Join the campaign and let's wipe out Malaria in our lifetime.

Freedom from Smoking
An online support program dedicated to help smokers kick the habit. This site offers behaviour moderation info as well as access to respiratory therapists and smoking cessation specialists. This site is a part of the American Lung Cessation's quest to help those with lung disease and risk factors for pulmonary disease live healthy lives.

10. Take the Challenge
This health and wellness program is offered free of charge to the residents of Prince Georges county every Monday at Prince Georges Community College. Dedicated to healthy living, this program offers exercise ( salsa anyone), fresh food as well as exciting lectures on health and wellness.  Congratulations to the PG Dept of Health, First Lady of PG County Mrs. Leslie Johnson, Prince Georges Community College,  and For This Cause for this exceptional program.

11. Pure Salmon
 
Dedicated to raising the standards for farmed fish, this nonprofit works to educate the public about farmed salmon and aquaculture, ensure the survival of wild salmon and maintain  the safety of the oceans.

11. Wright House                                                                                                              
 
This Washington ,DC nonprofit provides aftercare services to children living with or affected by chronic illnesses. Servicing young children and young adults, this organization provides much needed services including nutrition classes, art therapy, academic tutoring, computer skills training, nutritious meals and field trips.
