Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a serving of fruits/vegetables?

A:A serving varies depending on the item but is comparable to a cup. One small apples is a cup of fruit. 1 cup of juice can be used as well however you miss out on the  fiber from the orange which helps stabilize blood sugar levels.

A: CSA stands for community supported agriculture. This economic model involves consumers(shareholders) buying a share of  one farmers' harvest. The farmer uses the investment to buy seeds, equipment, offset labor costs etc.The farmers then provide the shareholders with the bounty of their harvest throughout the  harvest season- usually May -November.

Our CSA is different however. We provide a service where we support  multiple local farmers who are committed to sustainable farming practices. These farmers support themselves, their families and their employees through the sale of their fruits and vegetables. By financially supporting these farmers, we bring affordable primarily organic produce to  you the community. We also provide seasonal produce year round.

A: That depends.

Individual Health Box-$40 which provides a variety of fruits and vegetables for  1-2 people. For some couples this box lasts them for two weeks.

Family Health Box-$80 which provides a variety of fruits and vegetables for 2-4 people

Payment is prepaid on Monday at 11 AM for Tuesday deliveries in Silver Spring and Takoma Park.
Q: What can I expect when I pickup my produce?
For those who order the small health bag, you will receive your seven items in a reusable 5 A DAY CSA bag. We limit the amount of packaging used with our deliveries however some fragile items subject to bruising are placed in plastic bags. Each week simply bring your bag to pick up your items and we will have them ready for you!

A: The produce is delivered weekly  at community sites and homes ( in certain areas)  . Workplaces that enroll 10 or more members will become delivery sites with the day of delivery determined by that organization and  delivery available throughout the season.
A: Our farmers have committed their lives to providing fresh foods to this nation. They can be found at the Takoma Park, Silver Spring, College Park,Potomac Adventist Book Store  among others.

A: Because health is important to me,my family and my community.Because local farmers need local support.
